Shifting into fall
The shift into fall can be one with many challenges: the change from the warmth of summer to the cold, dreary, gray and moving towards the dark of winter. As seasons change, there's the shift in the colors of the trees and all the colors around us from vibrant greens to yellows, oranges, reds, and deep purple - rainbows of colour across the landscape. As we notice the shifts and changes between seasons, we can also notice shifts and changes within ourselves and as we relate to each other and the environment it's a time we can find ourselves moving into a different rhythm of life - perhaps a little quieter, maybe less outside time - that shift from the activities of summer into what supports our needs in the fall when all of the activities start up again with the start of September.
The movement of fall and the shift in the rhythm of our lives we can find that our emotions shift from perhaps happiness, joy or feeling energized from the sunlight and hope and promise of summer moving to the slower or sometimes more hectic pace of fall.
Seasonal changes can be challenging for people with the shift into fall coinciding with emotions that match the weather: a dreary depressed feeling, drained of energy, and a sense of increased struggle. It remains so important to remember to care for ourselves the same way that we care for others: offering ourselves time and space to notice the changes, notice what's going on in ourselves and take care of the needs that we find ourselves with - whether that be nourishment, connection with people, time in nature, or something else which takes care of you.
I wish you all the best as we each navigate this change of season and season of change, and know that if you are struggling, there are many supports and resources available to support you.
